Jay & 2PM on Seattle News Report 29.09.09!!!
'Fans Beg Former Korean Boy Band Member To Return'
Briar you put so much effort into it! We dont and will never blame you for what something beautiful has been taken so so out of context.
This is what Mr Mayfield had to say:
'Over the past few days you may have seen an airplane circling the area with a huge sign in tow that reads "J. What Time is It Now?"
It turns out what's behind that sign includes an international boy band, a MySpace post, and legions of heartbroken fans focused squarely on Edmonds.
Think of them as the Korean equivalent to Jonas Brothers: they're called 2PM and these guys have every teen, tween and pre-tweet in South Korea entranced.
Jay Park is one of the most popular members, but he's also Korean American and told KBS World Radio in June he auditioned for the group in the US where he grew up.
"I used to break, like b-boy and I used to rap. So my mom said go audition for this thing," Park told the radio interviewers.
Park made the cut and for months was one of the most popular members of one of the most popular boy bands in southeast Asia.
In early September, however, a fan discovered that before auditioning and while living in the US, Park apparently wrote a few disparaging sentences on his MySpace page regarding Koreans.
Those sentences were made public and Park abruptly left the group and went into seclusion.
Now fans believe they've found Park living at his parent's home in Edmonds. Fans have reportedly sent him gifts and letters begging him to return to 2PM and Korea.
KOMO News has been unable to independently verify whether Park is in the area or even whether his parents own a home in Edmonds.
One Korean music news web site, however, reports Park's church in the Seattle area has issued a statement on behalf of him, "Very thankful. This has given strength and bravery. Jaebeom [Jay Park] has revealed that he will live in the love and sincerity that everyone has showered on him."
Over the last few days some fans even hired a pilot to circle the Puget Sound area exactly at 2:00pm trailing that banner.
The author of another widely circulated internet post claims to be a close family friend.
The friend writes, "I asked him, Jaebeom, do you wanna go back to Korea?"
"Yes..but I'm not sure."

However, please do not send any abusive messages to him. KHottest are currently working to clear the misinterpreation the Korean Media has written about this report!
UNDERGROUND event
Hi, this is International Relations team at K-Hottest Underground.
2PM Fanpage Hikaruhoshi (with the help of 2ONEDAY and Underground) is flying a sky banner for Jay, over Seattle at 2 pm, September 28th. This event's goal is to have all 2PM fans worldwide to join in the project online and offline.
The phrase on the sky banner is "What time is it now?". It's the phrase that Jaebeom always used to shout on stage. 2PM members' and the fans' answer to this question always was "It's 2PM".
We hope everyone can join this online project, for Jaebeom who is now in Seattle, the rest of the boys, and the fans who are waiting for 2PM with all seven members; because 2PM is only complete when there are Jaebeom, Junsu, Nichkhun, Taecyeon, Wooyoung, Junho, and Chansung.
1st Online event:
When: the whole day of September 28th (due to the time differences worldwide, we did not choose certain time range)
Where: http://2pm.jype.com/ (On the comment box where you can freely leave comments even without membership)
How: Write, "What time is it now? It's 1:59 PM" with the country you're from.
(ex) What time is it now? It's 1:59 PM - Korea
We hope that Jaebeom's answer to this question is "It's 2PM" when he sees the sky banner; and we hope he comes back as the leader of 2PM no matter when.
Until there is an official announcement by JYPE that Jaebeom will come back as the leader of 2PM, and until 2PM becomes seven again; it will always be 1:59 PM.
Many Korean Hottests and International Hottests are disappointed at JYPE for only expressing their opinion on this situation by posts online, when the matter involves their own artist.
We planned a second online event, in order to show our opinion about such disappointment.
2nd Online event:
Where: the whole day of September 30th (due to the time differences worldwide, we did not choose certain time range)
Where: http://2pm.jype.com/ (On the comment box where you can freely leave comments even without membership)
How: Write, "DON'T YOU DARE JYP" with the country you're from.
(ex) DON'T YOU DARE JYP - Korea
We sincerely ask all Hottests to join this event. Thank you.
Support whichever events you believe in!!

[NEWS] 090923 2PM will not perform as 6 at Super Model Contest
2PM’s name has appeared on the invitation list for SBS 2009 Super Model Contest on which will be held on 25th September. But only member Nich Khun will appear to perform a ballad number.
A SBS staff said, “2PM Nich Khun will appear to sing a ballad song as an invited singer. The 6 members will not appear on stage together, but we are looking at having 2 members on stage, which includes Nich Khun.”
But currently which member will appear at the Super Model contest stage with Nich Khun has yet been decided.
2PM’s group activities are currently put on hold after past MySpace posts written by JaeBum were exposed and afterwhich he had decided to leave the team. Initially there has been much anticipation as the group will appear as 6 members again with this event performance, but it seems that they will not be doing so so soon.
Meanwhile, other performing artistes for the event are GDragon, 2NE1, So Nyeo Shi Dae, Baek Ji Young, Park HyunBin etc.

[NEWS] 091909 Has JYP really given up on Jaebum?
Opinions have spread since JYP announced he will continue 2PM’s promotions as six members. Whilst this is happening, some have captured signs of JYP trying to protect Jaebum, so they are now interested in what will become of Jaebum’s future.
SportsDongA found out that eventually Jaebum returned to his family in Seattle, USA but that his contract with JYP is still valid. If he had completely given up on Jaebum, he would have terminated the contract, but JYP Entertainment is still keeping it.
Also JYP has not antagonized the fans who requested that Jaebum withdraw his resignation, but are taking down post-its on the JYP office in ChungDamDong, Seoul for safekeeping.
One can also tell from the text he posted over two instances on the 10th and the 17th that he wants to carry Jaebum through this. He emphasized the fact that time for reflection was needed in his first post on the 10th, saying “Right now the important thing is not 2PM’s Park Jaebum, it is young Jaebum. I think it’s very important for him to look back on himself and reflect.” Reflection, or ‘time-out’ is something that happens before coming back, so if there were no plans for him to return, the word is meaningless.
In the second post, made on the 17th, JYP revealed his intentions many times over saying that he will ‘give him time, give him opportunities. ’ He emphasized the fact that this could actually be an opportunity for him to return better and stronger, “There are some people who worry that the dream he’s prepared for the last 4 years has just collapsed, but the skill he crafted and polished in those 4 years still remain with him. If he gets the chance to mature as a person, he can fly higher and bigger.”
Also he stated “I think it’s an overreaction to request an immediate withdrawal of his resignation. I think it is my duty to respect his opinion to take some time offstage for himself, and do my best to help him if he says he wants to return to the stage later. I think that it would simply be better for everyone to support and encourage him then” therefore showing intentions to help Jaebum’s return after time have passed and the situation has matured.
As of now JYP has not released an official statement about these points.

[NEWS] 090918 Will Fallen Idol Star Make Comeback?
Staff Reporter
It has been a week since Jae-beom, from JYP Entertainment's boy group 2PM, left the country amid criticism on comments posted about Korea on MySpace four years ago.
The top boy group is still leaderless, and the controversy and pleas regarding his return have not weathered.
Everything happened in a flash, and people are scratching their heads as to the reasons for this outcome, pointing to the widespread nationalism many Koreans have toward famous figures whenever they make a mistake.
Nationalism Rising?
Koreans are quite sensitive to what they see as inappropriate remarks and acts by stars and public figures. If the remarks are negative toward Korea, the situation becomes a bigger issue.
Many local and foreign celebrities and VIPs, both local and foreign, have become victims of their off-the-cuff remarks, and Internet users, or netizens, have bashed them online even before the news hit the stands.
``People tend to have a sentiment of seeking to bring down a successful figure. This time, it was Jae-beom. This sentiment has been snowballing as the situation escalated following wide media coverage,'' Hwang Sang-min, a psychology professor at Yonsei University, said during SBS the ``Current News Debate.''
This may be understood as a type of patriotism, but sometimes the love for the country can go overboard to the extent where it becomes an excessive emotion, rather than a tolerant characteristic.
Jae-beom is a third-generation Korean-American.
Many Koreans generally interpret things from the perspective of nationality.
When the Virginia Tech shooting spree took place in 2007, Koreans generally felt sorry for the incident as the shooter was a Korean-American. But the U.S. media interpreted the tragedy as the making of a deranged student.
Many netizens have, in fact, expressed their anger at Jae-beom by writing that he should go back home to the U.S. if he didn't like Korea.
In similar light, young Korean-American males who have to decide on their citizenship experience a dilemma.
``When I tell people that I'm American, they tend to think I chose my citizenship to skip military service,'' said a 25-year-old Korean-American, identified as a Hwang. ``It was my choice, but it is inevitable to feel a bit uncomfortable when mentioning the fact that I chose to be an American instead of a Korean. We know Koreans are sensitive to this issue, and we understand that this can make some people a target.''
In the book ``Toward Citizen of The World,'' writer and veteran journalist Ko Cheol-jong points out that Koreans have warm hearts, but lack forgiveness and tolerance.
``If the Korean public turns its back on you, it is difficult for you to spring back up again. For foreigners who know this Korean sentiment, the Korean `jeong' can seem a bit scary,'' he writes.
Fans, Media and Internet
If nationalism was one of the backdrops, the fans and the media were the tools that spread the news.
``Local fans these days are very collective and they know how to use the Internet. The media are sometimes slower than the fans, but it's true that the overwhelming information and comments posted online can sometimes be a big burden for both the public figure and Internet users,'' an entertainment agency executive told The Korea Times.
Many point out that sensational media coverage and headlines are responsible for fanning the knee-jerk emotional backlash.
According to the MBC program ``PD Notebook'' on Sept. 15, the number of articles regarding Jae-beom's comments posted on the Internet was approximately 90 on Sept. 5, but currently stands at more than 6,400.
``Instead of trying to seek truth, sometimes it is more important to know what others are thinking. The public leaned toward the massive reports and opinions and that is why the public sentiment turned ugly against him so quickly without seeing the whole picture,'' professor Hwang said.
``It's a double edged sword,'' said another Korean-American identified by her last name Min, who added that it was disturbing to see fans being polarized in such a short period.
The past week was a hard one, not only Jae-beom, but also his fans, friends and his agency, which has been under the radar for being too ignorant about the case.
The agency and Park Jin-young, commonly known as JYP, posted a comment Thursday evening on the fans' demands that Jae-beom should return.
``I have been carefully monitoring the criticism toward Jae-beom, the comments about bringing him back and also the tolerance about giving him another chance. Jae-beom has not changed his mind and he is still too sorry and ashamed of standing on stage,'' Park said he wanted to respect the singer's opinion and he believed his role was to help him when he says he wants to return to the stage.
``I apologize for not being more attentive to protecting the artists who belong to the agency, and I promise we will do our best to avoid any further incidents like this in the future. The (remaining) six members of 2PM will continue their activities as scheduled,'' Park wrote.

[NEWS] 091809 Kim C speaks about Jay
-Before you spoke that “the world is like *Toffee”. Do you not think of those thoughts.
Why wouldn’t I. For example that friend from 2PM that’s really unfortunate. With the reason of words he wrote 4 years ago on a private internet space that friend was chased out. Was this a problem that this had to happen. Why can’t we just look at him as a friend who had those thoughts. That friend is very young. If those words were written 4 years ago how much younger must he have been. Look back on the reporters too. At that age you can do whatever. What’s worse is if I look back 1~2 years I was pitiful. 1 year from now if I look back on today I will even look pitiful. They can’t even show generosity for a young kid’s words from 4 years before.
[T/N: *Toffee, here this is used as a negative word, it is like a simple profanity in the English language.]

Kim TaeWoo talks about 2PM Jaebum’s issue, “There’s no need to discuss celebrities life.”
In a recent interview Kim TaeWoo said “I’m sure there is no one Korean that has never resented Korea before.” “I don’t understand why they can’t recognize ‘one out of all.’ It’s because they are jealous of one person’s fame.”
Kim TaeWoo said, “Did they really have to ruin a person’s life with their opinions?” Showing much disappointment, he said, “ Jaebum is very talented and always a hard working kid," and that “He works hard and seems like he will gain a lot of interest with his love. Because of this small issue, one’s life has fallen.”
Kim TaeWoo said, “It was something that happened before he even became a singer," and added that “if they dug into other’s past they would surely found a flaw.” Kim TaeWoo believes “The most important thing is the present and the possibilities of the future.” And confessed that “Celebrities are not peanuts to be played with for fun. I hope the culture of digging up small issues will disappear. It is really sad.”
On Sept 19th PD JYP said to the fans who demanded the withdrawal of Jaebum’s resignation that “ Right now that is to excessive.” And announced, “2PM will continue as a 6-member group.” Fans have said that “this Jaebum’s resignation issue was similar to god Park JunHyung’s issue when he almost had to resign,” and criticized JYP. What would Kim TaeWoo, having gone through a similar situation, feel about this?
“GOD denied the company’s (JYPE) management during Park Junhyungs close-to-resignation crisis. I believe if 2PM supports Jaebum, he will have no problem coming back. Also I think (Park) Jinyoung hyung would do the same.”
Kim TaeWoo said that the relation the fans made between GOD and 2PM has nothing to do with it. He said, “The political man is an official recognition. But celebrities are not expert they are artists. They only sing better than most others. Because of the public influence they have to be careful with what they do but it doesn’t mean they have to be perfect.”
He said, “Isn’t doing something morally or conscientiously wrong the main problem? For example, drunk driving and drugs, etc. It should be something that even to a normal person it is considered bad, in order for it to be pointed at. But it doesn’t mean they have to absolutely be polite and gentle.
Kim TaeWoo said, “ Jaebum is being treated like a traitor who sold the country. All he was trying to get was some comfort from his friend back when he was having a hard time. People shouldn’t be concerened about a celebrities personal life,” and said that, “When a singer releases an album and people didn’t like it because it had no change to it then they just shouldn’t buy it. It’s the best way for the people to express their feelings about the singer.”
Summary of the rest of the article:
Kim TaeWoo is basically saying that people shouldn’t be concerned with celebrities personal/private life. And ruin their life with harsh criticism. He says people need to see the difference between the people that deserve the criticism and those who don’t. He continues to talk about the criminals and also Yoo SeungJun who can’t set foot on Korean anymore. He believes the cultural growth is the biggest reason why we need to stop it.
Lastly Kim TaeWoo says “Jaebum sorry I couldn’t protect you,” and that “In truth everyone should say this but it’s hard to. But I believe this is right.

2PM WILL CONTINUE WITH 6 MEMBERS
QUOTE:
JYP’s STATEMENT “2PM will continue with 6 members”
talked to JYPE staffs, 2PM members, and Jaebeom about our future plans. First of all, although many people have sent their encouraging words to Jaebeom, he hasn’t changed his mind; thinking he made a huge mistake. He said that he is still very sorry and too ashamed to be on the stage. He also told me that since other 2PM members have worked so hard, they should not be affected by this in any negative ways. That’s why he left 2PM so quickly.
I think the same way as Jaebeom. The reason why I didn’t stop him from leaving is because I thought whether Jay being in 2PM or not now won’t be that big deal when you look at his life as a whole. Some think 4 years of his hard working has been destroyed, but his skills that were built up in 4 years are still remained in his body.
If Jaebeom receives a chance to grow up and become more mature by this incident, he will be able to fly even further later on. As criticism against Jay was way too harsh, requesting to revoke Jay’s resignation is asking for too much as well. It’s my role to respect his opinion wanting to have his time alone apart from the stage, and help him later when he says he wants to be on the stage again.
I think you should give him supports by then. Again, I apologize for not being able to manage and protect him well. We’ll try our best to not make this happen again
Thank you again,
2PM will continue their schedule with 6 members as it was planned

[NEWS] 090916 Taec and Wooyoung to leave Inkigayo on a short break
Remember the news we reported earlier in the week about 2PM members, Taecyeon and Wooyoung possibly leaving their MCs position on Inkigayo? A decision has been made today by the producers of Inkigayo and you can say that it's good and bad in a way for 2PM fans.[NEWS] 090916 JAEBUM's recent status in Seattle, as told by his friend
2PM Park Jaebum's friend told about Jaebum’s recent status in Seattle
In a phone call with Newsen on Sept 16, Jaebum’s friend who currently lives in US revealed that “JAEBUM came to church with his parents on Sept 13. He just quietly attended the service. At first, he avoided any contacts with stranger. But, now he’s in better condition so he started to meet his friends. When he first arrived at Seattle, he was very exhausted. Also, his health condition was not very good before, but now he regained tranquility in his mind, so he goes out sometimes.”
About his living condition, he said “Right now, he’s training himself by doing everyday workout, and he has started to study music again. He went to church with his parents and met his old friend.”He answered the rumor about Jaebum’s health condition by saying “Although he was tired and exhausted at the first time, he now maintains relatively normal life”.

[NEWS] 090916 Majority of broadcasting/industry associates say “Jaebum has to come back”
Jaebum was once bashed for his insults towards Korea but after his resignation and departure, sympathy stories spread very quickly. Later some fans and the management company, and some netizens had a ‘dirt fight’ (everyone puts their all into it but it’s not exactly a win-win situation) and the occasional disagreement came up but after the 15th’s MBC ‘PD’s Notebook’ these supportive theories were strengthened, and their ‘rescue’ activities are spreading to the public.
How is this seen by people that work in the broadcasting/media industry? In the results of a survey done on about 30 people, the majority’s opinion was that “he must come back”. But there were many different ideas on when this should happen.
One person commented that “everything about the Jaebum incident was uncouth” and “the fans, the netizens’ press, and the public were all uncivilised in manner”. They added that “Jaebum got a very big punishment indeed for his mistakes. That is definitely wrong” and “if it’s wrong, shouldn’t we try to change that?”
Another also emphasized that “it was certainly not something that deserved such a big fuss. Jaebum was unlucky” and that “he was a kid that put so much effort into everything. It just took time to shake off his American mind and this became the problem. Still, he shouldn’t be kicked out of the industry. His coming back feels right.”
A manager included that “he was a real leader, exceptionally hardworking and endeavouring” “Although the public must be a bit upset, I’m sure it’s possible to forgive him generously. I would like to see some of the netizens greeting him warmly”.
While almost every single person wished for his return, they had different views on the right time. The story varied from “the sooner the better” to “sometimes you just need time”.
One music associate that is close to 2PM stressed that “he must come back as soon as possible. Why should he be isolated, so far away as if he committed some major crime?” Also another raised their voice, claiming that “this unbelievable nonsense happened in less than 10 days.” “Jaebum’s comeback needs to happen soon so everyone can go back to their places. It’s not the time for ordinary netizens and fans to argue.”
But one manager said “although there were some mistranslations, it’s true that Jaebum’s comments carried a negative tone. Jaebum should reflect on this.” and worried that “for Jaebum to continue as he did before, I think a suitable amount of time is needed. If he returns now, he will just become overwhelmed with the negative opinions that are already in place.”
A broadcasting associate said “it’s quite some pressure to air him on programs while the commotion hasn’t fully died down” and “Wouldn’t it be better to wait until the general view of things is sorted out and calmed down? That will be the best picture. I want the fans to take it easy, rather than stay desperate. I think taking some time off to let Jaebum and the public recollect their thoughts is a good idea too”.

QUOTE:‘Have you ever trained hard for 4 years to only lose your job in 4 days? Well, Park Jaebeom did. Letter's message from Jay's Family Friend
------------
"Hello, Park Jaebum fans.
I write this to you in hopes of reaching out, as I too, am the father of a son.
I used to be in business with Jaebum's father and was his friend for nearly 30 years as 1.5 generations living in America. I've known Jaebum since he was a child and have grown to know more and more about his life through these years spent together.
Jaebum lives in Edmonds, a small village by the sea in Seattle. His house was built over 40 years ago and they have lived in it for nearly 20 years.
In the driveway, there is no BMW or a Lexus in sight, cars that are often easy to see in American households. Instead, cars over 10 years old take place in his driveway and an Elantra that was given as a gift from a fan of Jaebum, which was quickly returned after this whole ordeal regarding Jaebum exploded.
When you enter the house, it is decorated with 10 year old furniture and a 37 inch Sony TV. The computers in the house are so old that they break every day. The only working one is a laptop given by a fan of Jaebum's.
The reason I am telling you this is because I want you to know that Jaebum, everything he showed you on TV, was not fake. He does not come from a rich family, nor an overly poor one.
Two days after Jaebum arrived in Seattle, Jaebum's father proudly bought Jaebum a $200 piano from someone and dragged it into the house. Without a word or a complaint, Jaebum worked hard on practicing his skills for his father on such a cheap piano. It made me embarrassed to be in possession of a $5000 Roland keyboard.
Friday night, Jaebum spent the night up until 3 AM with his father, drinking beer and talking of this and that. Jaebum's father began tearing up, tears in his eyes, sorry for his son.
---cut some stuff out that we already know----
In the beginning of August, I remember Jaebum came to Seattle for a visit. As Jaebum's younger brother began to pester him, Jaebum, with tears in his eyes, said this to him.
"I want to be able to meet friends like you, I want to be able to hang outside like you. Do you know why I'm suffering so much like this? All for you and our parents. Why won't you think of that?"
One night, I asked my daughter in the car, the same age as Jaebum. "Yuri! What does 'Korea is gay' mean?"
"It means that it's stupid, or frustrating."
----cut some stuff we already know---
Jaebum's parents are in such a disarray, they never answer the phone. Jaebum once left the house last week to briefly meet with a b-boy friend. A man on the street recognized him and attempted to shove the camera in his face. Jaebum ran all the way home.
Jaebum stopped going to church all together and won't even step out of the house. Being by his side like this rips my heart apart.
This Saturday, I took their family out to a Chinese restaurant. The atmosphere was mellow, but it seemed like he was in a better mood.
I asked him. "Jaebum, do you want to go back to Korea?"
"Yes... but I'm not sure."

I hate you” 라는 말을 자주 들어왔습니다.

Jaebeom Park' secession, volitional or compelled?
16:00:04 10, Sep, 2009
[NEWSJAPAN = Soojeong Kim]
The title stands for itself. Has
Imprudent articles recalled to crisis? Excessive harass response of the Netizen? Responsibility of the corporation, JYP Entertainment where Mr. Park belongs to, primary duty is to hold these reactions off and to affirm adequate corresponds. So far, however, JYPE has overlooked not only the Netizen but 2PM's fans and other artist members of the company in disappointment. It has placed the focus of the cause of this incident on Mr. Park, as an individual, and it has reversed earlier proclaim that nothing was definitely settled and there will be no elimination.
From this angle, the issue ought not be regarded as of an personal matter. An entertainment corporation lies behind it, and it has not fulfilled its obligation. And it is consistent to look on the settlement of the situation.
In addition, one of the biggest problem face the suspicion, that JYPE has known the controversy-triggering texts on Myspace already. JYPE has pleaded its willingness to fulfill its responsibility as the representative, and, at the same time, it evaded the arising suspicion that it had neglected the reclaims of some quick fans, who had noticed the remarks before the story was carried, and ignored the fact that there had been a gossip about it.
It is not expected to say the goodness of Jae Beum. The incident originated from him, but public already received news by media and netizens hat what is known (Such as Jay doesn’t like
JYPE could settle the issue with enough self discipline time that Jay will have, but they drove situation for Jay to the extreme. Moreover, they shifted the responsibility to Jay’s shoulder and sat back and watched how it would go. JYPE can not deny that they are the one who made the issue only up to Jay for individual level, NOT as for JYP entertainment to deal.
It follows from the foregoing that can secession of Jae Beum justify as Jay’s will to withdraw be included? Shouldn’t we doubt for the wills based on secession is mostly based on JYP Entertainment Company?
Jae Beum is an adult, and may had expressed his opinion in certain extent to resolute the issue. I am not saying that his view is not included to the Secession. However, the announcement of secession was done by JYPE as backing in behind, and to hand down pressure for responsibility, JYPE needed sacrifice of someone. I doubt that secession is branched out by necessity of sacrifice.
Clarifying whether Jae Beum Park pronounce SECESSION from 2pm by his will, forced to leave, or actual retire done by implicitly by JYP Entertainment Company and investigating is the most important.
(The journalist indirectly claim that it was not Jay’s will to withdraw. I wish the point is understood. It is difficult to translate the hidden nuance in different language.)

Jin Young Park expressed to public through media, that

[NEWS] 090913 Lack of Understanding on Overseas Korean?
While the controversy is still unfolding, Hankyoreh Sinmun on Saturday ran a piece that pointed out the lack of understanding in Korean society toward the Koreans abroad, who are second or third generations, born to a Korean family there.
Park, for instance, grew up in Palisade, a town in New Jersey that has one of the highest concentrations of Koreans in America. The young Koreans there tend to display the trait of “Twinkie,” a term indicating Asians in the U.S. who make great efforts to assimilate the mainstream American society.
“Their identity is closer to American than Korean,” said an unnamed Korean in the piece who currently lives in the U.S.
The problem is that although these individuals regard themselves as “Americans,” the American society doesn’t regard them as such because of their Asian-looking appearance.
Frustrated, some Twinkies turn to a “negative joke” towards their parents’ country.
“Among Korean Twinkies, there is a culture that if you don’t look down on Korea, you are regarded as a nerd,” said a Korean blogger in America. The 2PM’s seemingly pejorative remark on Korea can be understood in that sense, Hankyoreh said.
Most young Korean-Americans struggle through their adolescent period about their identity and eventually choose one. And the more one lives near a mainstream white American neighborhood the more the possibility he chooses to become a Twinkie.
“In general, the Korean expatriate community respects each individuals’ choice,” the piece said.
Park Jun-kyu, who teaches at South Korea’s Chonnam University and who himself is a 1.5 generation Korean-American told the newspaper: “The term Twinkie is a symbol among young Korean Americans who struggle with their self-identity. The Korean society in a sense overacted to Park’s remark, which he made long time ago. The Koreans here took his remark as an ‘attack’ to the Korean society.”
Since Park’s debut in 2008 the group has become one of hottest pop syndromes in Korea.
But Park fell in hot water for remarks he made in 2005-2007 on Korea, which belatedly became public. He allegedly said, “Korea is gay. I hate Koreans. I wanna come back (to the United States)” on his social networking Web site Myspace, enraging fans.

"If someone from our company forced one of Cherry Filter's members to leave, it is the same as telling the band to never make music again. Isn't it the same for 2PM?"
He went on to say that it would be impossible for 2PM to fill Jaebum's void. "Their company is so irresponsible for kicking Jaebum out of the group over personal issues dealt over 4 years ago."

[NEWS] 090914 JYP Claims Jay Has Said Nothing of Return to Korea
JYP representative responded on MBC ‘Happy Day’ aired on 14th September about the question to whether JaeBum will return to Korea, “JaeBum’s decision to go back to America has nothing to do with the company. He has not spoken about what are the future plans.”
Also on ‘Happy Day’ aired today, the trainee live of the 2PM members were also revealed.
On the show, JaeBum was shown saying, “(During trainee days), I can’t speak Korean, and I was not used to the food. It was tough. Also, it was tough being alone in Korea without my mother.”
Then another member TaekYeon added, “Back then, it was so tough for JaeBum that he cried going to sleep.”

[NEWS] 2,000 Mobilize at JYPE Building in a Silent Protest

On September 13th, Korean Hottests surrounded the JYP Entertainment building at Seoul GangNamGoo CheongDamDong under the occasion of a silent protest against 2PM Jaebeom's recent withdrawal from the 7-member group. 2,000 members from 64 of 2PM's websites rallied together for a total of 2 hours, waiting outside from 2PM (very clever) to 4PM with over 100 police officers present on stand-by.
Due to the large turn-out of fans causing a blockage in traffic, the initial time, which was set for four hours from 2PM until 6PM, was cut short. One of the fans’ representatives said, “We will have the fans go home and clean up the streets by 6PM.”
In particular, what caught people's attention the most was a poster that read "4 Years, 4 Days", which translates into:
Four years, the time it took to change him from Jay Park to Park JAEBEOM
Four days, the time it took to destroy his dream.
It was a simple, yet powerful message that the fans based their silent protest on.
They also made a clear statement that they would not "support a 2PM that has less than 7 members" and were spotted bearing fansigns that demanded the return of the fallen member."Jaebeom, come back"
"Jaebeom, are you watching?"
"PM 01:59", "7=1"
"We miss Jaebeom"
"I am looking for 2PM's leader Jaebeom"
"Give us our Jaebeom back"
One representative claimed:
Through this whole process, the company did not do anything to the team which they have trained. All the responsibilities were carried by Jaebeom. While the fans are hoping for official explanation and active solutions to the situation, JYP has looked away and fans are now angry at JYP. We are angry at what JYP showed us in this past week, and we are officially demanding JYP to return Jaebeom to 2PM.
This was the first collective action that was taken since Hottests from all over the world made their declaration of boycotting 2PM and all music released under JYP's name. There was a total of approximately 1,000 CDs that were piled outside the JYPE building that day.

[NEWS] Nichkhun will not attend Star King recording

The aftermath of 2PM's Jaebeom quitting and returning to America has been quite chaotic. With Taecyeon and Wooyong possibly retiring from their MC roles on SBS Inkigayo, now comes even more disappointing news.
It's been confirmed that 2PM's Nichkhun will not be attending the filming of the September 14th(today) recording of SBS Star King.
Star King's PD Bae Sung Woo informed Newsen today:
"Nichkhun will not be attending today's(14th) recoding of Star King. We know 2PM members are currently canceling their appearances from programs, however, depending on the situation, there is the possibility of change."
JYP Entertainment is currently pulling out 2PM members due to the emotional and mental stress of Jaebeom leaving the group. However, it is still unclear whether Taecyeon and Wooyoung will be pulled from their MC roles on SBS Inkigayo.
